Food Safari in Penang..

When the month of July started peeking out of the calendar , I've thought it never came. It was really exciting for me and yee ling cause it is gonna mark the 2nd time I come back to Malaysia after almost a year working in Port Moresby Papua New Guinea.

The last time I came back, was when it was the start of Chinese New Year. I 've managed to come back in time to celebrate Yee Ling's birthday on 31st January 2012 and for that we 've made it special celebrating it in the beautiful romantic town of Malacca.

This time around, my heart longed to be in a similar town and Im glad to have planned ahead for the town of Penang. Me and Yee ling managed to research into different boutique hotels that we have come to love since our trips to malacca where homestays are abundant. We 've managed to research into different food and different places that we would like to go in Penang.

For our first day in Penang, we 've managed to dive into the trinity of what seems to be Penang's best food .

Char Koey Teow - with lap cheong (chinese sausage), choo yow char( fried pork bits) and plenty of brinjals served on a piece of Banana Leaf .

Assam Laksa . is noodles bathed in a bowl of fish stock broth with onions, pineapples and cucumber . It's hot and sour with some kick in the chillies. It's rated the 3rd best food in the world.
Rojak is a fruit salad luxuriously mixed in a fermented shrimp paste along with diced nuts . It have the crunchy texture with the cucumber, pineapples, sour mangoes , radish and some raw squid.

Street Curry Noodles

Chee Cheong Fun - rice noodles served with fermented shrimp paste ( har gou)
